The pink sensation from Italy

Spritz is amazingly popular among trendy Romans and Milanese, perfect during Aperitivo and also very simple to make at home. The drink was first created during the Austrian occupation of north-eastern Italy. The Austrians thought the wine too heavy and therefore literally added water to the wine to dilute the taste.

The Italians didn't agree, and therefore added a number of ingredients to give the drink the necessary panache. There are any number of recipes for it, just like for pasta bolognese, and so every region, every city and even every local barman has an own Spritz recipe.

For the most popular version, use 40% Prosecco, 30% mineral water, 30% Aperol and an orange slice to decorate. Serve with delicious antipasti, invite your friends over and organise your own trendy Italian aperitivo. Salute e un buon fine settimana!
